The Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) annual verification period for principal designated school officials (PDSOs), designated school officials (DSOs), responsible officers (ROs), and alternative responsible officers (AROs) is underway. School officials must complete their annual verification before March 2, 2026. U.S. colleges and exchange program sponsors must complete this process to comply with federal regulations under the Federal Information Security Management Act.
The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) urge institutions to begin the verification process early to ensure that all DSOs and PDSOs are properly verified within the required timeframe. Not completing the verification by the designated deadline will result in all unverified officials will lose SEVIS and Batch access. Schools not in compliance face additional SEVP compliance actions, including potential withdrawal of certification.
Over the past several months, there have been several instances of students losing their SEVP verification as part of the stricter immigration landscape. In September 2025, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently reduced the validity period of D/S, F-1, J-1 student visas. Additionally, many F-1 students reported their SEVP verification being revoked in the past several months. In an increasingly strict immigration landscape, applicants and visa holders must take all the required steps to stay compliant with government policy. Therefore, individuals with questions should contact the SEVP Response Center (SRC) at SEVP@ice.dhs.gov/.
