Alien Registration Documentation Reminder

Individuals over eighteen years of age need to keep their alien registration documents with them, per a CBP announcement. Green card holders over the age of thirteen are required to enter their information into the alien registration database. Not having the proper documentation will result in fines.

This policy has been in place since February 2025. The federal alien registration database catalogs lawful permanent residents living in the United States. Failure to carry proof of registration is a federal misdemeanor and is punishable by fines. Individuals could also lose their immigration status and even be removed, per U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

All non-citizen residents of any age should take the appropriate steps to ensure compliance with the law. Any inconsistencies should be rectified immediately. Also, green card holders are entitled to same rights as U.S. citizens if detained by authorities.
