The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that Lebanon is now eligible for Temporary Protected Status (TPS). This means that certain individuals from Lebanon can apply for TPS and receive protection in the U.S. for 18 months.
Around 11,000 people are estimated to be eligible to apply for Lebanon’s TPS program. To qualify, applicants must be from Lebanon or have lived there last, continuously living in the U.S. since October 16, 2024, and have been physically present in the U.S. since November 27, 2024. Other requirements also apply.
People can register for TPS between November 27, 2024, and May 27, 2026. Those who qualify can also apply for work and travel permits. F-1 student visa holders may also qualify for special student relief, allowing them to work more hours while school is in session and reduce their class load, while still maintaining their student status. For more information, check the notice in the Federal Register.
