The Department of State released the June 2022 visa bulletin. The visa bulletin summarizes the availability of immigrant visas both for consular processing and adjustment of status applications to be filled in June. The State Department releases both the Final Action Dates and Date of Filing Application for Employment-Based and Family-Based immigrant visas. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) confirms which chart Applicants must use to file their Adjustment of Status Application (AOS). USCIS has yet to confirm which chart Applicants must use to file their AOS application in June 2022. Below is the breakdown of the movements in the June 2022 visa bulletin.
Employment-Based Cases
The State Department’s June visa bulletin for the Final Action for Employment-Based (EB) preference cases shows little to no movement except for Indian nationals in the EB-2 preference group. The Final Action Dates for Indian nationals in the EB-2 category advanced by one year from September 1, 2013, to September 1, 2014, in the June visa bulletin. This is encouraging news. USCIS has recently been hinting about this change by encouraging Indian nationals to file under EB-2. For EB-2 all other nationals remain current while Chinese nationals remain unchanged from the May visa bulletin, with a March 1, 2019 date. In the EB-3 Professional/Skilled Workers preference category, all countries including India and China remain unchanged from previous months, January 15, 2012, and March 22, 2018, respectively. The EB-1 remains current for all countries including India and China. For EB-2, the Date of Filing the Chart remains unchanged from the May 2022 visa bulletin. This indicates USCIS may continue to use the Date of Filing in June 2022.
Family-Based Cases
The Final Action Date chart for Family-Sponsored cases is stuck with no movement from the May 2022 visa bulletin to the June 2022 visa bulletin. In all categories for all countries, there is no movement. For Spouses and Children of Permanent Residents, a visa continues to be immediately available, and the dates are listed as current for all countries. U.S. embassies and consulates are working on the backlog of cases; therefore, the State Department is keeping the dates steady. They are still working on removing the bottleneck it may create if the Department advances the dates forward, and more visas are available for use. The two movements we see are for Mexican nationals in the F1 (Unmarried Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens) and F2B (Unmarried Sons and Daughters, 21 years of age or older, of Permanent Residents) category. In the F1 category for Mexican Nationals, the dates advanced from January 1, 2000, to February 1, 2000. In the F2B category, the dates advanced from January 1, 2001, to February 1, 2001.
For the same reason stated above, there is little movement in the Date of Filing for Family-Sponsored in the June 2022 visa bulletin. All the other dates remain unchanged from the June 2022 visa bulletin.
In the coming days, USCIS is expected to announce the cutoff dates for the acceptance of adjustment of status applications next month. We will update you promptly on the announcement.
