The gold card visa program is now seeing little applicants. Released in September 2025, the gold card visa gives beneficiaries a fast-tracked path to permanent residency. The visa requires a one-million-dollar fee and fifteen-thousand-dollar vetting fee. However, it offers no waiting times for applicants.
According to the Washington Post, only three hundred and thirty-eight people applied for a gold card since the start of the program. However, only one hundred and sixty-five people have actually paid the one-million-dollar application fee. The rest haven’t fully committed yet. Potential applicants usually back out due to judicial challenges the program faces or its lack of Congressional approval. Additionally, many would-be applicants are from countries considered “high-risk” by the U.S. government. Currently, the U.S. government placed visa processing for individuals from high-risk countries on hold until further notice.
