Global Entry Program Processing Resumes

The Global Entry Program is active again as of March 11, 2026. This is despite the ongoing partial Department Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown, which is currently into its’ fourth week. The shutdown happened because Congress couldn’t pass a new DHS budget before the end of the previous financial year.

Importance

Beginning on February 17, 2026, the partial DHS shutdown affected departments like Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The DHS shutdown of the program was mainly due to it falling under CBP management. Additionally, the DHS explained they didn’t have enough personnel to continue program operations.

Next Steps

Restoration of Global Entry means international travelers can expedite customs processing again. Global Entry is available at major U.S. airports. Global Entry is also available at land borders. Finally, members with TSA Precheck can further expedite travel and arrival processing at U.S. airports.
