USCIS Expands Form I-485 Requirements to Mandate Medical Exam and Immunizations

USCIS announced new requirements when submitting Form I-485. The beneficiary’s medical exam and immunization records must now be included. If these documents are missing, USCIS may reject the application. The medical exam and vaccination record should be submitted using Form I-693, Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, along with Form I-485.

This requirement ensures that individuals do not have any health conditions that could make them ineligible for permanent residence. The instructions for Form I-485 have been updated. This change was made to reduce the number of Requests for Evidence that arise before USCIS reviews the application. More details can be found in the USCIS Policy Manual.
