The Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman (CIS Ombudsman) recently appointed four regional representatives to help address local immigration issues. This office acts as a confidential, independent link between the public and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The organization was set up by Congress in 2002 to improve communication and address problems.
The four new representatives are based in:
- Los Angeles (Western region)
- Dallas (Central region)
- Boston (Northeast region)
- Orlando (Southeast region)
These representatives support USCIS’s regional operations and service centers.
Their roles include:
- Working with local immigration groups to understand their experiences with USCIS.
- Identifying regional issues or concerns specific to local USCIS offices.
- Reporting feedback and making recommendations to the CIS Ombudsman headquarters, providing USCIS recommendations as to processes or policies.
- Explaining the services and processes of the CIS Ombudsman office to the public.
The main office continues to engage with individuals nationwide, focusing on foreign embassies, international organizations, employers, and federal agencies.
How to Contact a CIS Ombudsman Regional Representative
You can reach the regional representatives through their Public Engagement page. They are available for contact by employers, legal services, schools, community organizations, and government bodies, but they do not handle individual case assistance. For personal case support, submit a request on the Assistance Request page.
