Centralized Processing of VAWA Self-Petitions and Related Filings

USCIS made changes to the intake process for Form I-360, Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), or Special Immigrant. The new process went into effect April 1, 2024.  Also updated is the process for related filings to the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) for self-petitioning abused spouses, children, and parents.

VAWA Form I-360 filings received at the Nebraska Service Center will no longer be transferred to the Vermont Service Center for intake processing as they were prior to April 1, 2024. This step is no longer required. The update does not, however, change where you send your form or how it’s adjudicated. The current filing process shown on Form I-360 still applies. Further, USCIS officers who specialize in VAWA cases will continue to make decisions on these cases.
