Supreme Court Justice Alito Further Delays Texas Immigration Law

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Alito extended an order further delaying The Texas immigration law known as SB4. Just after the previous order expired, Justice Alito issued the order to pause the law until further updates are provided.

The legality of the Texas immigration law, which gives state law enforcement agents the ability to stop, arrest and detain migrants who are in the U.S. without a legal basis, is currently being reviewed by the 5th Circuit Court. The law gives Texas state courts the ability to return migrants found to be in the U.S. without a legal basis, to a port of entry. The Justice Department asked the full Supreme Court to put a hold on the law. The full court has not yet acted on that request.

At this time, there is no expiration date set for this latest delay. The pause is in effect until a further order is announced.
