In March 2023, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) randomly selected applicants for the FY 2024 H-1B cap program. This selection included those who qualified for the advanced degree exemption. Only petitioners whose registrations were chosen in this first selection can apply for H-1B visas for the FY 2024.
The filing period for those selected registrations was from April 1, 2023, to June 30, 2023.
Since they have a specific number of visas to give out for FY 2024 H-1B cap, USCIS needs to do another selection round. They will pick more registrations from the previously submitted electronic registrations. Once this second selection process is completed, USCIS will inform petitioners of their eligibility to file an H-1B cap-subject petition for the named beneficiary in the selected registration.
For our clients, we will get in touch after the second round of selections is over.
