TPS status extension

TPS Status Extension Details Announced

Updates to the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) extension for qualifying people from El Salvador, Honduras, Nepal, and Nicaragua were announced by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The extension was announced previously, but more details are available.

To maintain TPS status for the extension, individuals from these countries need to register again. TPS related documents that are currently valid for beneficiaries will remain valid until June 30, 2024, as ordered by the court. The new notices do not change this extension. Only individuals who were granted TPS under the previous designations of El Salvador, Honduras, Nepal, and Nicaragua can register again.

People who arrived in the United States after specific dates for continuous residence are not eligible for TPS.

  • Individuals from El Salvador must be prior to Feb. 13, 2001,
