United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is providing documentation verifying the immigration status of eligible new asylees and lawful permanent residents following specific legal determinations. Individuals whose immigration status is approved by the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) or an immigration judge will now receive official documentation to confirm their status. Because USCIS may not be notified of all decisions, the agency strongly encourages these individuals to request their proof of status from the USCIS Contact Center.
To enhance convenience and accessibility, USCIS introduced the option for individuals to receive this documentation by mail, eliminating the need for an in-person appointment. First introduced in August 2022, this process allows individuals to mail their completed Form I-94, Arrival/Departure Record, along with the necessary stamps. Additionally, USCIS now generates the Legal Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) as soon as they receive confirmation of the granted status by an immigration judge or BIA.
If you have any inquiries regarding your legal status and available documentation options, please feel free to contact us at ILBSG. We closely monitor proposed and actual updates to U.S. immigration policy to provide our clients with timely and accurate guidance.
